Islander broadcaster and TV presenter, Namila Benson, has been immersed in media and the arts for over 15 years.
She currently presents a weekly Talks show, 'Wax Lyrical' on Australia's largest community radio station, Triple R FM. Her show focuses on newly arrived refugee and migrant communities, issues of sexuality, health, youth, race, identity, culture and the arts. 'Wax Lyrical' was selected for the SANE StigmaWatch 'Good News' Files, for its accurate and balanced portrayal of mental health in Australian ethnic communities.
Namila is also a presenter on ABC's Sunday arts show, 'Art Nation' and is a regular co-host on ABC774 and Radio Australia.
Outside of media commitments, Namila is involved as a mentor with diverse, community projects Lady Fingers (Melbourne's first all-female, culturally diverse, DJ collective) and CMY (Centre For Multicultural Youth). She is a huge advocate of the pivotal role cultural and artistic pursuits can have upon a person's well-being.
