Monica Benyk

Monica Benyk grew up in Canada of Ukrainian and English parents. Her undergraduate degree (Politics and Economics) was completed at the University of Melbourne and she worked for a number of years in policy and management roles in the Victorian state government, including the Dept of Premier and Cabinet, before becoming Director of Policy at the Mental Health Research Institute in 1994.

In 1996, Monica accepted an executive position with Mercy Health and Aged Care in Melbourne before moving to Brisbane in 2000 to join Mater Health Services as Director of Human Resources. She is a passionate advocate for diversity in employment and health/ community services, and has enjoyed pursuing her twin passions with Diversicare, the community care division of the Ethnic Communities Council of Qld since early 2008, where she has been Director since late 2009.

In addition to her professional background, Monica brings a wealth of personal experience to the multicultural, migrant, and aged care debate.
