Refugee health & wellbeing

More than 13,750 people from refugee backgrounds settle in Australia each year. How do they interact with the Australian health system?

We set the scene for this session with a hip hop performance aimed at promoting young people's health and wellbeing.

Dr Victoria Achut, a doctor trained in Sudan and registered to practice in Australia, then explores cross-cultural understandings of health and health systems.

Finally Paris Aristotle of the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture explains why partnerships between communities, service providers and government are necessary for successful refugee settlement.
