Problem gambling and culturally inclusive treatment

How should issues of culture, migration and settlement be considered in problem gambling treatment?

This workshop will explore culturally inclusive screening, assessment and treatment practices, drawing on two international perspectives.

Participants will learn to recognise the ‘red flags' that indicate a gambling problem, appropriate interview techniques to avoid shame and stigma, ways to address client belief systems in therapy, and strategies to negotiate the counselling process with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The workshop is designed for workers and clinicians from problem gambling, mental health, substance abuse, family counselling and multicultural service sectors.
